About Us

Our mission is to equip the Cancer Treatment Unit of Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala with all the facilities.

At present, the unit has facilities only for surgeries and Chemotherapy for cancer patients. However, to complete cancer treatments, more than 70% of cancer patients should undergo radiotherapy treatments. Since the hospital does not have radiotherapy facilities, cancer patients are referred to the National Cancer Institute, Maharagama (NCIM) in order to get radiotherapy treatments.

Since Maharagama is about 120km away from Kurunegala, regular travelling is inconvenient and costly for poor patients. Therefore, it has been observed that many cancer patients tend to give up their radiotherapy treatments. By this proposal, it is proposed to equip the Cancer Treatment Unit of Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala with Radiotherapy facilities.

Any person living in Sri Lanka or overseas that over 18 years old can apply for the membership of the Wayamba Cancer Society. No any other restriction.

The life membership fee is Rs. 2,500 and after submitting the application with the membership fee, We will inform you of the acceptance of the membership.

Membership can be obtained by submitting a duly completed application form that can be obtained from the society Web.
